The Outreach team exists to further the mission of Apostles Uptown by championing a culture of justice, mercy, and service in the church.

Expectations

ROLES

Outreach Team Member
  • Serve at 7 of 9 monthly Dream Center markets, plus Turkey giveaway & His Toy Store
    • 9 Saturday markets (1:15-4pm) 
    • November Turkey Giveaway (8:30-11am)
    • His Toy Store (4-8pm)
  • Attend bi-annual planning meeting with Outreach team
  • Participate in communication & outcomes of meetings
  • Attend at least one equipping opportunity per year (book club, CTC course, Discipleship Session, etc)

Outreach Team Leader
  • All of the above, plus:
    • Organize and lead bi-annual planning meeting with Outreach Team 
    • Bi-annual check-ins with Staff support liaison 
    • Present yearly opportunities for outreach partnerships/equipping

Qualifications

Outreach Team Member
  • Active & growing relationship with Jesus 
  • Affirm Apostles’ statement of faith
  • Active pursuit of the five marks of a disciple & Apostles values
  • Commitment to integrity - the inside matches the outside 
  • Commitment to historic Christian sexual ethic (see statement on sexuality)
  • Demonstrate eagerness and aptitude in serving the poor and marginalized

Outreach Team Leader
  • All of the above, plus
    • Member in good standing of Apostles Church
    • Demonstrated eagerness and aptitude in serving the poor and marginalized
    • Demonstrated organizational/administrative competencies 
    • Demonstrated leadership capacity 

Process to Join & PATHWAY TO LEADERSHIP

Outreach Team Member
  • Serve reliably and regularly as a volunteer at Dream Center
  • Attend one equipping opportunity (book club, CTC course, Discipleship Session, etc)

Outreach Team Leader
  • Serve on Outreach Team for at least 1 year
  • Discernment meeting with current/exiting leader & staff pastor

responsibilities

Outreach Team Member
  • Champion a culture of justice, mercy, and service in the church (both in personal life and in ensuring this is something our church and leaders talk about regularly)
  • Identify and pursue potential outreach opportunities, partnerships and equipping opportunities through Dream Center, King’s Housing, HFNY, Harlem Shalom Network, etc.
  • Planning, leading, and executing monthly Dream Center markets at King’s Housing

Outreach Team Leader
  • All of the above, plus
    • Provide direction, oversight, and care to volunteers at Dream Center markets 
    • Ensure clear communication with staff on needs/announcements/planning

Meeting Rhythms

Quarterly Leadership Cohorts in church offices for the sake of equipping leaders, collaboration, and prayer.
